Volume 2 – Animals and Nature.
I apologise for a slight misnomer here. It could have easily been called Collies and Nature as you will see. My wife and I have a predilection for the Rough Collie and, consequently, they feature prominently. For this I make no apology.
These books might just annoy you a little. I enjoy using all forms of delivery and I tend to disagree with the factions that say you must find your ‘niche’. That denies variety and breadth. I adore the hundreds of rhythms used by Hardy. I relish the beauty and honesty of Housman. Larkin rocks my world and David Constantine polishes it. I consider writers like Causley or Bukowski to have powerful techniques and also enjoy the thrust of Sharon Olds and the humour of Eleanor Brown. I have been a rock drummer for 30 years in-between being an EMT, electrician and, somewhere in all that, served 20 years in the Royal Air Force. I like to think that I’ve ‘suffered’ here and there (don’t we all) - and now I would like to bleed, cajole, thrill, threaten, subvert and scare you in no particular order. Together, let’s pit Led Zeppelin against Lassie and see what happens. Try me – but you may not sleep tonight….
